Katie Mac's Pansies

Pansies
One of my students brought these pansies in for us to paint.  This is a contour drawing (continuous line) with watercolor on Arches Cover Cream in my journal sketchbook.  Arches Cover is not watercolor paper, and "cream" is just that  -  cream colored.  It is very heavy, soft paper, not meant for watercolor at all, but I like the way it takes it  -  the colors stay pretty bright.

The pansies look like spring, and our lilacs are about to bloom, but I'm still wearing turtlenecks and layers.

I started this post a few days ago and didn't finish and post it.  I don't know why.  I seem to be moving very slowly and the rest of the world is rushing by.  I'll catch up.  Slow isn't always a bad thing, you know.

Love the pansies and also the leaves!...I seem to have trouble with them sometimes. And slow?Sometimes we have to go slow... it's good for the soul. That's where I have been, too, but "we'll get there"!;)

Thanks BJR - Yes, slow is okay - even good, but sometimes I forget to pay attention to the times I need to speed up :)

Love your contour pansies AND the leaves, too.
Slow? does that have anything to do with procrastination...that's MY problem!
The Spring flowers and Turtlenecks and layers seem to be the garb this year :-) I wonder what Summer will be like?
Just going to w/c some wild Phlox I sketched by the roadside.

Lovely! My pansies, this far south, are finishing, but they've lasted since February. You've given me the idea of contour drawing them before they disappear.

Marj - thanks! I never thought of "slow" having to do with "procrastination" - hmmmmm.

Lesa - thank you! We are just getting the flowers in at the local greenhouses, and does it ever feel good to wander around all that color and smell the soil! Our season is sooo short. I do have one little pansy that wintered over.

How I wish I could join you in your back yard for your day of journal keeping... I WILL be there in spirit for sure. I love your simple rendering of subjects, I tend to over work my pages and so seeing yours is always good for me.
