Lunch at the Twisted Olive
This is the journal page from yesterday's lunch. My little palette is so handy.Tomorrow I will go to the grocery for a couple of things I want to make sure I have before the stores close at 6:00. For some reason, knowing that the grocery stores close at 6:00 on Christmas Eve makes me a little nervous - more than a little nervous. What if I have forgotten something???!!! I'm not even the one feeding everyone. Calm down.
Here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a nice weekend just the way you like it - peaceful and cozy or bustling and crazy. Have a good one!

Merry Christmas weekend to you and your family too! Love the last two postings--hoping you weren't too far away (in Calif.) I do drawings wherever I go, but don't WtrClr it until I get home. Do you take a brush pen with you? Haven't used one of those. Those cute wc tins and bookbinding are addictive. Getting quite a collection. :-)
Merry Christmas Catherine!
Just arrived here in the north woods. We're spending Christmas with our son Matt and his family. On the 26th the rest of the family will be coming up. My cup runnith over.
I always enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work.

Charming sketch, Catherine. Nervous? I'm like you, afraid that I will have forgotten something. Maybe it's all that creativity we encourage in ourselves--too much imagination. But I don't want to get rid of mine, just the same. :)
Merry Christmas to you all.

Marj - Merry Christmas to you and yours! I carry a tiny hand sanitizer bottle of water and a small, flat, plastic lid to hold the water, and I use my Daniel Smith travel brush - shown in the picture. I should get in the habit of using the water brush. I sometimes wait until I get home to do the watercolor - it depends on the space and the time I have.
Ginny - Merry Christmas and welcome to the snowy North Woods. Have a great time with your family!
Annie - I made it to the grocery store and home again and didn't have a nervous collapse or forget anything (that I know of yet). Merry Christmas to you too!
I love salt and pepper shakers too...something about the transparency and the quaint glass shakers! All the bet for a prosperous New Year! Your note book paintings inspire me!!
how fun totake your little palette with you. I need to find mine and take it to work. Great idea
peace n abundance,
CheyAnne
As a newbie to the world of watercolor, I have to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy your blog. Thank you. I've been experimenting with a little tiny box and just a few colors, trying to figure out which 4-5 colors to keep with me if I'm only going to take 4-5 colors, and am curious to know what 5 colors you keep in your little box.
Linda, Now my whole family checks out the salt and pepper shakers the minute we go into a restaurant. Fun!
Best wishes for a great new year to you too!
CheyAnne - yes, dig out your palette and take it everywhere!
Michelle, thanks! In my little palette, the five colors are Quinacridone rose, new gamboge (yellow), ultramarine blue, manganese blue, and thalo yellow green. Not the most basic colors, but ones I really like. A good basic palette would be Quinacridone rose, ultramarine blue, lemon yellow, hookers green, and maybe burnt sienna if you don't want to mix your browns.
