View From Judy's Yard

View Across the Cottage Lawns
I painted with friends yesterday and it was hard to zero in, there was so much to choose from.  The clouds were fabulous, the water was tropical, the cottages are charming, but there was something about this row of trees going off into the distance across the lawns of the cottages.  I can see this as a larger "serious" painting.

As I mentioned to Marj. in yesterday's comments  -  I am not transitioning well.  I just go from August classes to September classes, I don't have to get kids off to school, we don't take off for other parts of the country when the season changes.  So what's the big whoop?  It was a nice summer, the weather is still great, we're planning a mini get-away, we'll have a family get-together for labor day  .  .  .

Okay, thanks for listening.  I feel better now.

It's beautiful, Catherine. I bet a larger version would be awesome, too.

Love that Birch Tree with the different shades of leaves--so real-looking! Why can't I stop, stop, stop with just a few leaves like that? Trying to remember to Keep is Simple Sweetie! Just sketched our entrance with flag and flower pot and realized--too much detail. Going back to it to "simplify. "Always learning :-)

Would love to see this turned into a serious painting as the sketch is wonderful!

As to the transition, know that you have company...I had my last summer class to end yesterday and I am so out of sorts I don't know what to do with myself!! And it's not like I don't have oodles of stuff coming up in the Fall season.

I'm taking today to play....not sure what or where or even the form, but the muse is whispering and I think I shall heed the call!

Hope your sorted out soon! Bravo to you for making good use of it.

Thanks Carol.

Marj. - contour drawing, large brush!
Try the contour with a pencil, not pen, if that feels a little more secure. The contour drawing technique eliminates detail.

Laure - glad to hear I am not alone in my drifting. I cleaned my laundry closet, and it felt good to reconnect with the house after a busy summer of not being here much. Now the muse is calling :)

Would love a bit of no transitioning! Love your birch tree in the painting above. Funny what wind does to the trees in Petoskey. I love their wind blown shapes. I sketched a scene a few blogs back of the Bayfront park when we were there during the summer. Can't say it was much of a relaxing vacation as the six kids kept me busy and John had to fly back to NC. I plan on watercoloring it. Let me know if you recognize the scene. Your watercolors are lovely. I asked this before but do you ever put some for sale via the Internet. I would love to buy one ( We just missed art in the park)
