More Orchid Studies

Orchid Blossoms in Pencil (left) and Watercolor and Ink (right)
I'm loving the way orchid blossom petals fit together, and how subtle the shadows have to be to keep them white, but still show the gentle curves.  Fun.

In my state of "unmotivation", I can't seem to complete anything serious - anything larger than a sketchbook page.  So I guess I'll just stick to my sketchbook for awhile.

Now I am off to set up a still life for my afternoon class.  We will be working on simplicity and draped fabrics.  I even ironed the fabrics!

I love your compositions. So beautiful. I can never understand when artists who are so talented say the can't get motivated. I don't start because I doubt my talent, not due to lack of desire! :)

There's something about orchids. "Less is more" comes to mind. The way they drape, almost oriental. Just begging to be drawn and painted.

is anyone else not getting the pictures on the blog? Love the text and am anxious to see the pix too! It all sounds like such fun.

Diana - thanks! I don't iron very often, but I do love getting things ready for class - washing vases, ironing linen cloths, cutting flowers . . .

Margaret - thank you! I will get back in the groove. This is just my winter slump.

Sally Ann - you're right - they seem very "zen" don't they.

gvann - glad the pics are back:) and thanks for your nice comments.

Helen - thank you for missing me! I am fine - just am not being very productive. I am always sorry that I don't take advantage of the slow pace here to get things done in the winter, but I guess I have a hibernating gene.
